Coach appreciation
By: Coach Calhoun
I can relate Orangemule! I had a parent (Father) during last weeks practices take his son home every day of the week just before the end of practice sprints were about to happen. At the begining of the this weeks practice, I got his son and a couple of others who missed practice, un-excused, and after team warm ups, I sent them with the assistant coach to get my 12 sprints that the rest of the team had done on Fri. The Parent (Father) went bullistic, He started cursing that his #@* @#$% son was not going to do any sprints. I kindly informed the parent that if he was going to be on this team, he would have to do what everyone else did, and if he had a problem to turn his equipment in. He begin to walk off with his son, his wife stopped him, I guess to tell him how stupid his comments were. Never the less the player reported to the assistant coach and did his 12 sprints. I have been coaching for 14 years, and I am a strong beleiver in keeping the parents off the Football field. Momma and Daddys' baby, 11-13 yr old won't be treated like a baby once he gets on the playing field. Coach Calhoun
