Dru whe I was coaching 7-8 year olds in pinto division of Pony basebal we used the following guide lines: 1) kids pitch one inning per game have three innings of kids pitch per game and three innings coach pitch . this way in the first three innings your are developing your picters and next three innings your batters get a chance to see better pitching . 2) we had tournement play amongs the other area pony parks uusing same rules . 3) with kids pitch 3 strikes your out 4 balls its a walk 4) no stealing no leading no droped third strike . 5) at some point in time we changed the rule about the picture circle being dead to having the kids attempt the play with only one base allowed on the error . 5) Be creative think of ways that will teach the kids real base ball and keep it very competitve . 6) develop your talent pony baseball is very flexible any your players will benifit from playing pony ball vs Little League Play ball oh yea with coach pitch kids only get 5 pitches then there out.
