Tournament Team Coach Selection
By: Jon Toner
We had a case a couple of years back where a coach won his division based on the arms of two pitchers. He was a nice guy, and taught basics well, but in the end, his lack of baseball savvy ended up costing the All-Star team the District Championship. His regular-season philosophy of alternating two pitchers didn't cut it, and when his 2 All-Star pitchers were spent, he left them in and that cost them. Our board votes for All-Star managers. We have some excellent managers, and how their team performs does play a part in the decision, but there is no longer an "automatic" assignment.
