Bat Speed

Hi Dan,

At least somebody reads this stuff.

Good Question though.

Which Program can I market to you ?

Would you be interested in a comprehensive training program for yourself or your son ?

There are a couple of methods to quantize bat speed. The best method I know is to have the student realize he (or she) is actually improving his hitting (and it is thru his hard work that he has improved his bat speed (in addition to mechanics).

The Meter Reader I was referring to is actually a radar type device (Infra-red) that measures (via reflection) bat speed in the contact zone (debatable). The device has been out for over a dozen years or so. Someone told me over the winter that ATEC bought the guy in Washington out, and that someone says Jim Lefebvre is developing the device.

(I like and have met Lefebvre. However I only can hope that Jim's knowldege on the physics of radar did not have anything to do with the development of the Meter. Can I say Infrared Lights On, but nobody home!)

Anyway, Lefebvre's still got a great stroke from the right side. Jim's kids have an outstanding hitting instructor for a Dad. And last time I heard, also have a sweet swing at 12 or so.

However, I will try to find the guys number in Washington, which I think he was last selling one for $350.00 or so. (I am sure ATEC sells the same one for under $500 !!!!)

cheers Bear
