9yr old sick of outfield

Our LL does not have rules for equal play for the nine yr olds.. Those are considered minors (kid pitch). ages can range from 8-11. when my son got his first chance to play there at age 8 he had to play outfield because the kid who was 11 was obviously better. Ans, there is nothing wrong with outfield. I also made sure that at that age level ( my son is now 12) that all kids played outfield at some point during the season.
I also feel that no kid wants to be the one who is out there flubbing up the plays in the IF because he cant play the position but has to be there just because. I have actually had kids that want to only play outfield. they know that they cannot handle the infield and dont want to go there.
this season we had several kids that couldnt play IF worth crap. but towards the end of the season we as coaches decided to moms and dads why we kept them out of the IF. we lost that game 16-1. Not one ball was fielded by the kids. And they had been learning all season. the kids that regularly play those positions were "down" because they knew we didnt stand a chance. How does that build a team. The parents of the skilled kids get upset when this happens and the parents of the lesser skilled kids get upset becuase their kids dont get equal time.
I just wish that the parents would put in the time with their kid to help him get better. I would love to have the flexability to move kids everywhere. It makes them better ball players in the end. that is how are travel team works. The kids can all play at least 4 different positions very well. It makes life easier on the coaches knowing that they can switch kids out without losing anything on the field.
