Why Umpires Are Jerks

TG: Rich's District is probably just as competitive as yours. NY and PA are relatively equal in number of Districts and population size etc.

Three years ago, their District Champion fought through the Losers Bracket in the District and eventually lost the NY State Championship Game to finish 2nd in NY.

Two years ago, the District Champion was a different town and they also made it to the State Finals, finishing up 3rd in NY. My son's AS team held a one run lead over them with two innings left, but lost by only one run. I wonder how far we might have gone had we won that game.

Last year, the District Champion was another different town. They didn't go as far but still finished either 10th or 16th in NY. That's not too shabby I think, and Rich's town and our town each hold our own during AS tournaments. My son's team played three consecutive one-run games.

In any given year, at least six of our towns have a chance to become District Champions. Plus, I expect Cooperstown LL to eventually become one of our best leagues as they have only been with LL for a few years. That's better than some Districts where the same one or two towns win it practically every year.
