Rawlings Power Forge bat?

By: Craig

Ron,

This past Fall I did see an 11 y/o pitcher get drilled squarely between the eyes. The exit speed of the ball made it impossible to react, despite a good follow-through. Nasty. He got a concussion, but lived, luckily in my opinion. There is no comparison between injuries due to sliding and those injuries which can occur off a vicious line drive: The former are not potentially fatal while the latter are. If youth leagues do not take the lead in banning the superlight metal bats, then the courts eventually will when the inevitable law suit is brought and extreme punitive damages are awarded. The plaintiff's lawyer will simply and truthfully argue that the league was or should have been aware of the danger at hand. The various leagues should act NOW to establish a -5 w/l differential.

That's my view.

Sincerely, Craig
