Face Masks

The way our league has responded to this situation is to provide each team with 1 face guard equipped batting helmet. Unfortunately, we use the clear plastic shield, which provides protection, but gets scratched and discolored very quickly. To be honest though, not many of the kids use it. We supply each team with four regular batting helmets and 1 face guard helmet. So really, the only kid that uses it is the one on-deck. I'm sure there are many instances of kids getting hurt by pitches, etc., but I have not heard of 1 instance in our league in 3 seasons of this happening. We have, however had a few serious facial injuries occur in the field from a batted ball.
