Japan Vs Curacao
By: RD
You hit the nail on the head by saying if an adult acts in a sorry way how can you blame a kid for his actions. That should also go for your first comments on the Japan game today. I wish most kids were as respectful as the Japanese kids were today. What we see as wrong in other countries might be OK here. It seems like when a kid from the U.S. hits a home run, they all get that running jump and stomp on home plate. Maybe that's OK for us but that may bother people from other countries. I'm sure there are other things to point out but I am so use to our ways I wouldn't be able to pick them out. The only thing that bothered me about today's game was the Curacao's pitchers obvious emothions when things didn't go his way. As far as the umpires, they will make mistakes, especially at this level. I know the play at first was obvious but the problem with the strike zone is tough. I'm pretty sure that these umps are told to open up the strike zone. However this will make them inconsistant. Yes some poor strikes were called but to tell you the truth, I'm glad these guys have to make these calls at the WS and not me. Getting off track a little bit, too many people are disecting this WS on here. Little League seems like it's been around forever with the same size field and most of the same rules it's always had. All of a sudden all of these other leagues at this age level start popping up and people are getting very critical of the way little league is run. I've never coached or been involved in little league since I played it many years ago but it seems to be OK when I watch our local teams play. I have no complaints. With the number of players playing little league to this day, they must be doing something right.
