1st game of the LLWS Regionals

I'm so glad there are people like the announcers they get for the LLWS in this world! People like that make people like me feel superior!

I'm watching the game and all of a sudden in a 0-0 game, with none out and a runner on 1st, the batter hits a ball. After a bad play makes the batter safe at 1st, the runner on 2nd sees no one covering 3rd and takes off. Unfortunately for him, the 3rd baseman gets back, the throw is made, out # 1!

Trying to fill air time with his great knowledge of the game, the announcer immediately says, "Great heads up base running!" "When he saw the base open, he went for it."

Then, as the replay is being shown, the same guy says, "See there?" "You never want to make the 1st out at 3rd base, its a rally killer!"

As the game wore on and the game finally entered the last inning, these two brilliant examples of baseball expertise commented on the 122 pitches the 5'10" losing pitcher had thrown, and how tough he was and how it was too bad he would lose such a close game.

All of a sudden however, the team that was behind, takes the lead in the top of the 6th! Now the teams changes sides and who comes out to take the hill? Who was it that the brilliant coach who had played several years in AAA ball sent out there? You guessed it! The same kid!

As he's throwing his heart out trying to finish off the game, the stellar pair in the booth comment on how strong this kid is, and then comes the next comment that should be chiseled into stone for every kid to read. "Yeah, he's thrown a lot of pitches, but its cooler today, so he hasn't had to labor like those kids who were throwing when it was 94 degrees!"

When the game was over, that kid, with the AAA coach had thrown 140 pitches! Boy! I must be stupid! How is it possible that any pitcher could possibly have "labored" by throwing only 140 pitches!

That's exactly why coaches, players and parents do, or allow things like that to happen! Those things are glorified, and the players are made out to be gladiators in the Coliseum who just survived being attacked by the lions!

MAkes me want to PUKE!
