Errors vs hits, little league style

I unnerstan!

Just pray that those people do too!

Actually, I have done a stat similar to that before, but I have since done away with it.

Now I do what I call MRU's. If there's a runner or runners on base, anything the batter does that makes any runner advance credits the batter with an MRU. Then I divide that number by the total number of time the batter came to the plate with any runners on and get an average/percentage or whatever you want to call it.

I thought that would mean a lot more to me if I was a coach trying to figure out a batting order than a batting average would since I want batters who are gonna hit the ball or at least move runners in specific spots in the batting order, or in certain situations as pinch hitters.

The neat thing is, its a very, very positive stat! You'd be surprised at how high the numbers get, and because of that, its real easy to pick out the players who don't make something happen.

One rule of thumb for me is that when I come up with a new stat, I try to make sure it has some meaning.
