Leavin Early--Got a Better One
By: Walter K
Time limit's because of tourney's etc, that's not baseball, but we have no choice so we learn to live with it. My best time limit story would be at a Pee Wee Tourney a few years ago. No new inning shall start after 2 hours. Although this seemed to be enforced for everyone but the Home Team (which is another story). We are down big time 14-2, they had quite the chucker up there, but we are getting on and the time is dragging, they switch pitchers in the 6th inning and we start hitting big time, we got out of the top of the 6th inning with the score 14-12. Home Team is now batting. We play 7 innings as a rule, but have only 5 minutes left on the clock to get to the 7th inning with a chance to tie. The other team is taking their time, but credit to the Umpires who couldn't believe we could even come close, they chided the other team to not take all day. Well 4 minutes and 30 seconds later we had 3 out's and were in to the 7th inning. Talk of the Tourney, had people from other teams come to watch this miracle, I still bring it up occasionaly to boast morale. Oh yeah, we won 16 - 14... <.> Wally K
