Expensive Select Team Plays Coach's Boy Ball
By: Seadog
Baseball nut, If you came to me and said the only position your team can offer my son is Blankety blank and wanted me to agree to a contract for your 9 yr old son and his playing position I would politely decline and after you left I would have to say to myself who is this NUT? You may have a fine son and I am sure he is an ATHLETE but your arrogance is annoying. Your credentials of playing until your 11th grade until a ignorant coach ruined your arm is not credentials just a sad story. In another post you elude to hoping your son will gain 10 mph per year and hope he throws 83-84 at age 12 is absurd and unrealistic. Most high school seniors 17-18 yr olds can't hit 83-84mph let alone at age 12. Yes there are exceptions but I have never heard of a 12 yr old hitting 83-84,,, never. Dictating even calmly and respectively to a coach where your son should play at age 9 is just arrogant. Let the kid grow up and enjoy the game. Let him reach puberty and begin the maturing process neccesary to determine where he should play. At the elite level you are trying to get your son to play at, every position is as important as any other and the coach should play the kids where its right for the team not just your son. You opened this can of worms with your post and even eluded to getting people riled up ,,,, well this is my humble opinion. In my 15 yrs of coaching the parents who scream the loudest about how good there son or daughters are the ones to stay away from. SEADOG
