Success

Splitter,

This a great story more coaches need to read. It is obvious to many why you are a great coach. Developing a childs self esteem is as much our job as teaching the game of baseball.

To many coaches lose track of what the objective of a youth coach should be.Parents become coaches for a variety of reasons. Some because no one else would, some because they love the game, some just to be able to spend quality time with there kid, some so they can give back to their community, but far to many let there own egos get in the way of whats good for the kids.

Taking the time to help those bad players become better ones takes alot of time and committment, now whether you make him a better ball player is not the point but how did you make the kid feel about himself.

Teach the kids to play hard, teach the kids to play to win, teach them that hard work can make a difference, but don't do it at the expense of the lessor players.

Remember coaches,,,,,, the good players
will always have a coach who will want to have them and try and make them a better player, but for those 2 or 3 kids on every team that just do not have the skills YET ( and I know some will never have the skills) this might just be their last year to enjoy this game we all love. You cam make a difference as to whether that player takes something from the game that is positive or NOT.
