Base running times.....60' bases?
By: TJ
Surely, I have a different view point regarding those posted Pro times from H to 1b as stated in response to Scott R. 4.5 seconds from Home to 1b for a Pro Baseball player is considered way below average and hence the nickname "2 Ton Tony's" (or slow) 4.0 seconds from Home to 1b for a Pro Baseball player is considered in the average to slightly above average range, and nicknamed as pro speed material. Under 3.9 seconds from Home to 1b for aPro Baseball player is considered in the above average to way above average and nicknamed as good pro speed. Then there is the 'special' case of those pro baseball players who have earned the name: "Speed Merchants" These are the guys that great baseball stories are spoken about. One in particular is: 'That guy was so fast, when he turned the light switch before going to bed, he was in bed before the lights went out ! Mickey Mantle was timed @ 3.2 seconds from H to 1b from the left side. Other 'merchants' include: Ricky Henderson, Deon Sanders and of course Willie Mays Hayes. How about the pro baseball player that has + speed, + power, + arm, + bat, & plus hands? What do they call that? 115 Million for 9 yrs in spring training, & and playing baseball for his childhood dream team! cheers as on Pro Times.
