Freezing Teams

That's ridiculous, and I'm glad to hear something was done about it. But, I want to say that I'm not putting down coaches... I have the utmost respect for most of them. But following the rules of the league, in my opinion, is a MUST! Not only by players and coaches, but also by parents! I'm glad that parent reported what the coach was trying to do. As I said before... there is a lot that kids can get from sports to carry with them their entire life. Following rules is one of the most important things. Maybe I look at it a little differently than most, but sports (especially baseball) is taken very seriously by my boys. Having one that is 15 yrs old and a sophomore in high school who would rather play ball than "hang out" with his friends is something that I am thankful for. I know it's my responsibility as a mom to teach my kids right from wrong and "life lessons" and I do. But a coach with the right attitude, knowledge and concern for "the kids" can really make a difference. Of course, it also helps to have supportive, involved parents. I feel so bad for kids whose parents pull up, drop off the kid and leave at EVERY GAME, like the coaches are babysitters! Sorry for the long post and getting off subject... but I just wanted to tell all of you coaches what many parents, kids and possibly some of you coaches don't realize... you can have a GREAT impact on these kids. Please look at it as an honor! When my son was in 7th grade, he had to write a paper on someone other than his parents who he looked up to and had a major impact on him. Guess who it was... Last year, as a freshman, he had to write about the person he most admired. Guess who it was... it wasn't me, and it wasn't dad. It was the same coach he had written about 2 yrs before!
