LL Tournament - Facing STUD Pitcher

Sometimes you are just going to be overpowered, but you can try a few things. First, spend some time with the psychological aspect. Tell your kids that just a little bat contact will produce unbelievable results with that kind of power. They need to overcome their fear. If they don't, nothing else will help. Second, step on the release and "squish the bug". I usually see kids in this situation with a natural tendency to forget their mechanics. Timing comes from mental preparation, seeing the release of the pitch and practice. Bat speed comes from good mechanics, most importantly leading the hands with a full hip turn, and practice. You (your kids) would be surprised how the bat head can get out in front with a full, balanced pivot. Throw them hard batting practice and work on these things. Good luck!
