Bear's Batting Lineup, Coaching A Line-Up Card, Maximizing a Players Contribution Opportunity
By: Bear
Hi Darrell, I enjoyed your 1st game line up as much as the time it took, and the process you went through to find your right answers as you get closer to game day. I will pray for good weather.
I have frequently thought that, as coaches, their may have been something I could have done prior to the game, or prior to delivery of the line-up card to the umpire, that puts the right kids in the right spots with the right runners, vs. the right pitcher and the right situation. In other words, as a coach 'Did I Do the Right Stuff'
I think the 'Right Stuff' means: Getting the average baseball player the opportunity to be better, Allowing the below average baseball player the chance to be good that day, Having the patience and the 'parachute' for those best of the best baseball players that fail that day, by providing them the confidence as they move on to the next level. And as the name implies, it's really the final step for all baseball coaches and is the 'earned' respect that every young amateur baseball player remembers when his careers and contributions soon become memories. cheers Bear ps. For those with keen eyes, look for those Ray Miller / Cal Jr opportunities and contributions to the Baltimore Orioles especially during this sensitive time frame of this future HOF SS. And yes, it hurts and become sad to watch 'tough' decisions. psps. Darrell, 'statistically speaking' with t' sample over binom distrubution (and maybe 95% confidence), LaRouch examines findings which allows more runs per game with the descending batting averages. (The findings were easy to understand, and the objectives of the analysis were reasonable, however the 15% stnd dev paralizes most analysis.)
pspsps: I would look for 'buddy hitting system in two's maybe threes.
