Who Are You?
By: Neill Riddell
OK, Darrell. I am 48, a lawyer specializing in transportation matters (i.e. truck companies)and, yes, women want me. I have 3 boys, 20, 16 and 4. Most people hearing that think that I dumped an earlier wife for a younger woman -- but that's not the case. They are all ours. No 3 was supposed to be a daughter. At least that's what my wife said at the end of the first bottle of wine. As you probably have gathered over the last year or so, my primary involvement in the game is in league administration. I got involved when I thought boy #2 was not getting sufficient attention. Turns out, I fell in love with the association and made many great friends. And I love "my boys." I do coach. Have coached house and travel at most levels. Not great at it. I make a better GM. Last year was the summer my #2 lost to the broken leg (PLATE COMES OUT FEB 5!). But, it was a good summer for me. I took our 17 and under house team and had a ball. My favorite thing is the tournament we host. I have run it for 5 years. Last year we had 64 teams in 4 age brackets. No sleep for 54 hours and deep, deep sun burn. But, more fun than I can describe. (And Darrell, lets talk halters.....) All in all, I can think of no better way to spend the precious Michigan summers than with my kids and my buddies at the ball field. Thanks for asking. Neill
