Budget For Outfitting A Ballplayer

By: Steve

Sal and Bear's posts re:The Cost Of Doing Business below intrigued me. I'd be interested to see a prioritized budget for outfitting a youth baseball player. Just what do you recommend spending your money on and how much should be spent on each item?

For the sake of discussion, lets assume all league registration fees are already paid and the program will provide pants, stirrups, jerseys and a hat. Standard issue catcher's gear is available via the league as are run-of-the-mill aluminum bats (if you want a rocket launcher, you have to buy one).

Remember, the list needs to be prioritized, so anyone can draw a "cut line" based on the amount of money they are willing to spend on their kid. I'll grab a pencil and some paper and do some figuring myself and provide a list after some others have chimed in.
